The characters in Waiting for Godot are not fully developed individuals but rather symbolic figures representing human consciousness and existential struggle. • Vladimir (Didi) represents the intellect and is preoccupied with thinking and religious speculation. • Estragon (Gogo) represents the body, instinct, and forgetfulness. • Together, they embody a dualism that reflects the fragmented nature of human identity in the absurd world. Pozzo and Lucky, another pair, also embody absurdity. Pozzo, the master, and Lucky, the slave, parody human power dynamics, but their roles are arbitrary and constantly shifting. Lucky’s incoherent monologue satirizes intellectualism and further destabilizes logic.
